
The two-day Beishan Jazz Festival has concluded for another year, Nanping’s Beishan Village in Zhuhai went out with a bang. This year, the Beishan Music Festival Organizing Committee invited nine bands to perform at a cultural site consisting of a Qing Dynasty family hall and a theatre used during the Cultural Revolution; a truly unique venue.
The atmosphere at Beishan Festival is fantastic. The company who organise the event are also responsible for the protection and development of intangible cultural heritage at this creative industry park, where the festival was held. It’s a small but excellent festival at an extraordinary place. Many of the local bars and restaurants in Zhuhai supported the event who had great food and beverages on offer; including the food corner where food from all over the world was available.
This year’s best Beishan Jazz Festival weekend was on September 29 and 30. Bands from Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Canada, China, Korea, Philippines, Taiwan and many more performed fusions of jazz, blues, bossanova and folk. with a special performance from The Rolling Stones saxophonist Tim Ries, his extraordinary music is an inspiration to many composers across the globe. |
